As many of you know, our colors are heavily inspired by Wes Anderson films and usually named after phrases, places, people, or objects from his films. For those who are not familiar with Wes Anderson. He is an American film director, known for his quirky and unique filming style. His color palette is remarkable and we cannot get enough of the same palette.
Here are some of our newest colors and inspiration.
Courtesan au Chocolat
This is toned down and bright pink. It's inspired by the Mendl's box that the infamous Courtesan Au Chocolat comes in. If you have seen the movie, The Grand Budapest Hotel, you will know exactly what this is about. Mendl's pastry box is very recognizable.
Here is a clip of them making the pastry.
This is a leather inspired burnt brownish-orange. From the movie The Darjeeling Limited, there are quite a few scenes that feature some beautiful vintage leather suitcases. On these suitcases are the letters J.L.W.
The Yellow Tent
I call this a smiley face yellow because I feel like this is the same yellow you see on a smiley face icon. Wes Anderson is known for his use of very saturated yellows in his films. This is why we have so many warm yellow colors in our collection. A couple of his films feature brightly colored yellow tents.
